Sagtikos Manor has a long history on Long Island. The group I work with is called the Friends of the Manor Garden. A group of volunteers, that have become friends, work to bring the walled garden back to its original form. Photographs and documents are used to arrange and maintain the garden as it was when the original owners lived here. The property is now a Suffolk County Park. There are house tours for a fee, and docents dress up in period uniforms.
We meet here once a week, and work for about one hour a day. We can always use volunteers. So, if you have some time, like to do gardening, and live on Long Island, please get involved.
